BURNT MT PRESERVE

When looking for a photographer who could capture the evocative and meditative quality of nature for The Nature Conservancy’s annual report, Eamon Mac Mahon was who came to mind. Burnt Mountain in Vermont is a part of a carbon offset program and there is work being done along its streams, but our goal was to show this land as a peaceful, lasting, solution to climate change mitigation. I try to gauge how much direction a photographer needs during their assignments and felt that Eamon would respond best to a loose assignment structure so that he could be creative within those parameters. The results of his time there produced poetic images of autumn at Burnt Mountain.

“Rolaine was a pleasure to work with when I recently photographed the 5,500 acre Burnt Mountain Preserve in Vermont for The Nature Conservancy. She provided the necessary support and direction, while allowing enough space in the shooting schedule for me to make my own spontaneous discoveries and connections with the local community. I look forward to working with her on future assignments.” -Eamon Mac Mahon, Photographer
